The group’s first album, Consumed By Your Poison, originally released by the Canadian-based Galy Records, and reissued by Century Media in 2006 quickly sent shockwaves throughout the underground metal community. From that moment on, the group played countless shows on a quest to establish their stronghold as one of the genre’s finest. The band’s newest album, The Ills of Modern Man was recorded and released in 2007 with the record label Century Media Records. That summer, they toured supporting Job for a Cowboy along with The Faceless and A Life Once Lost. Following that tour, they went on tour supporting Suicide Silence, along with See You Next Tuesday and Winds Of Plague. In the winter of that year, they toured with The Acacia Strain, Full Blown Chaos, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, and Ligeia. They are currently on tour supporting Misery Index, along with Beneath The Massacre and Man Must Die. They are also currently touring on the 2008 Summer Slaughter tour. On June 18,2008, Despised Icon’s website announced that the original bassist Sebastien Piche has left the band due to him having a full-time job and being a new father. Max Lavelle from Goratory was the replacement for their last 4 shows and has now permanently filled the spot as bassist. In late October 2008, DESPISED ICON announces the details of their first DVD, entitled Montreal Assault Live, scheduled to be released on January 27, 2009 through Century Media. The disc features a multi-camera shoot from the band’s sold-out hometown show, along with a documentary, in addition to all their music videos. .
Bring Me the Horizon are five young British lads with a penchant for the heavy. Their astonishingly good debut mini album, ‘This is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For’, is essentially an 18 minute breakdown; four tracks of intense raging chugging and squealing, stop/starting and severe ‘core riffing. Nary a second hand euro thrash riff to be found, nary a melodic sung chorus, all things about this genre that irritate are devoid (well save for ball splittingly tight pants and backwards hair-cuts). Then they played shows……and kids moshed……and they kept playing shows……and kids kept moshing……
2006 became the year of the Horizon. First they became one of the top 100 played acts on MySpace (them and Coldplay were the only UK acts in the top 100!!!), followed by a blistering Radio One Rock Show Session. They won BEST BRITISH NEWCOMERS at the Kerrang! awards (beating the likes of Enter Shikari and The Automatic…), toured with Lostprophets, Killswitch Engage, Aiden and Bleeding Though, performed a brutal and much talked about set at Download (biggest pit of the weekend) and have been bombarded with tours for Europe and the USA too….. And all this from a band that had only recently released their debut album!
The debut, ‘Count Your Blessings’, released through Visible Noise in October 2006, is full of what people have already come to expect from Bring me the Horizon: massive riffs, erratic time signatures, tempo changes, immense vocals, shredding solos, blistering percussion, etc. BUT, the experience of working with producer Dan Sprigg (Lostprophets, Cradle of Filth) brought a new found maturity out of the band, a more solid direction and focus in song writing and structure. ‘Count Your Blessings’ set Bring me the Horizon as al benchmark band for the genre and beyond.
The band have grown again in popularity and profile throughout 2007 and 2008 with a Stateside release and extensive touring, plus a number dates on Gigantour with Megadeth in Australia, a huge sold out tour in the UK (culminating in a blistering sold out show at Londons’ Astoria theatre which holds 2000 people), and being flown over to Russia to perform twice, all leading them to another tour of Australia and multiple European Summer festivals and most importantly a much sought after tour on the Warped tour for Summer 2008, where they have quickly established themselves as THE band that everyone wants to watch with their incendiary live show.
The band were writing and demoing new material since late 2007 and went into the Studio Fredman in an isolated area of Sweden in April 2008 with acclaimed producer Fredrik Nordstrom (Dimmu Borgir, At the Gates). They left with an album yet another step up from their previous work, entitled Suicide Season - A title very close to their hearts.
Suicide Season is slated for release on September 29th 2008 with extensive touring worldwide to support this.

Tags: Bands TURISASWords from Wikipedia Turisas are a Finnish viking metal band from Hämeenlinna. They were founded in 1997 by Mathias NygÃ¥rd and Jussi Wickström and named after an ancient Finnish god of war. Turisas combine elements of folk metal and power metal, with perhaps some influences of symphonic metal as well. The album title Battle Metal has given rise to the term “battle metal” being used as a description of folk metal (used mainly by Metal Hammer magazine and its readers) but it is not a canonical metal subgenre. The label Viking metal is perhaps more fitting, as there are mild similarities to bands such as Amon Amarth and Finntroll. On October 28, 2005, the guitarist Georg Laakso was badly injured in a car accident and due to the extent of his spinal cord injuries, on July 12, 2006 issued a statement of his permanent resignation from the band on the official website. Nevertheless, the band continued to work on their second album, titled The Varangian Way, which was released in early 2007. Jussi Wickström recorded all guitars on the album. Mathias NygÃ¥rd revealed in the January 2007 edition of Terrorizer magazine that the touring musicians Hannes Horma, Olli Vänskä, Janne Mäkinen and Antti Laurila had been added to the band as full-time members, taking them up to an 8-piece act. It later turned out that of the two accordion players, only Mäkinen had become an official member. Laurila is no longer a touring musician for the band. On February 19, 2007, keyboard player Antti Ventola posted a message on the Turisas discussion forum announcing that he and the band had parted ways. This was later confirmed by the rest of the band. Mathias NygÃ¥rd performed the keyboards on The Varangian Way and Turisas are presently using backing tracks to replicate them on stage. In January 2008 accordion player Janne “Lisko” Mäkinen disappeared mysteriously in Amsterdam. For the upcoming tour dates in spring 2008 Turisas announced Netta Skog as a step-in accordionist. She had already helped the band on the European tour in October-November 2007. [1] Turisas were part of the US Paganfest tour in 2008, which was headlined by Ensiferum and also included Týr and Eluveitie. DRAGONFORCE
Words from Wikipedia DragonForce was formed in 1999 from the remnants of the band Demoniac under the name of DragonHeart, but they changed their name to DragonForce before releasing any commercial albums due to possible issues with Brazilian band Dragonheart. Their career began with the publishing of their early songs on the first incarnation of MP3.com, claiming the top of the site’s heavy metal charts. The hit song “Valley of the Damned” reached over 500,000 downloads in the first few months. Two of the original members, Steve Williams and Steve Scott, left the band to form the power metal outfit Power Quest. Sam Totman also started a side project called Shadow Warriors featuring himself and ZP Theart. Sam has confirmed many times that Herman Li was not involved with Shadow Warriors. The band’s first successful song was “Starfire” off of their debut album, Valley of the Damned. It was most noted because it starts off with a light piano intro, which is atypical among DragonForce songs. DragonForce have released three albums and toured extensively while supporting Helloween, W.A.S.P. and Iron Maiden. Their 2005 tour in support of the Sonic Firestorm album included support from Angra and Mendeed during their passage through the UK. On October 28, 2005 bassist Adrian Lambert announced his departure from the band in order to focus more time on raising his young son[2] (Lambert later revealed in an interview that he had left due to musical differences with Herman Li and Sam Totman[citation needed]). Less than a month after Lambert’s departure, on November 23, 2005, DragonForce were signed to Roadrunner Records in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Australia and New Zealand, who released their most recent effort, Inhuman Rampage on January 9, 2006. Lambert was replaced in 2006 by Frédéric Leclercq, who was made an official member after a performance on tour. A master track of the song “Through the Fire and Flames” is featured in the video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and is generally considered to be the most challenging track in the Guitar Hero series[3]. The developers used the song to demonstrate the game at E3. After Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock was released, the band’s music sales reportedly increased dramatically[4]. A new DragonForce album has been announced to be released on August 26th, 2008. This will be followed by an extensive UK tour through October, with support coming from Finnish folk metal act Turisas.
